Website Case Study - Alimco
Project Overview

One of the website systems we’re most proud of is the one for Bulgarian food ingredients wholesaler Alimco. Their website is not only a beautiful showcase of their business, but also a boundary-pushing technical feat. Because of their large product portfolio of nearly 4000 products, special measures need to be taken to ensure a smooth and fast browsing experience. Additionally, the large catalog requires special organizational capabilities so that any prospective clients can easily find what they are looking for. But, comparatively, displaying 4000 products is the easy part. Maintaining and editing them was the real challenge. Through the use of an open-source content management system (CMS), we’ve created a framework for Alimco employees to easily control and modify large swaths of products. The information can then be queried by the custom website frontend. This approach allows for hand-crafted bespoke visuals and no reliance on a website builder or e-commerce platform, while still allowing clients to manually edit business-critical parts of their websites in an intuitive and efficient manner.Additionally, seeding the product database was an incredibly interesting journey through the depths of corporate data management, manipulation, and storage. In a sense, we didn’t just build Alimco a website, but helped them digitalize the way they manage their products. Before their new website, their product information was spread around countless unstandardised spreadsheets. With the introduction of a robust CMS, they now have a single source of truth for all their business critical product data.
